Top 5 Reasons to Use an Acrylic Convex Mirror

Have you ever considered installing a safety mirror in your office or warehouse? If you’re looking for the best option out there, look no further than acrylic convex mirrors with heavy-duty plastic backing. In this blog post, I’ll share the top 5 reasons this type of safety mirror is the perfect fit for your workplace.

Reason #1: Durability that can’t be beat

Let’s face it – accidents happen. And when they do, you want to know that your safety mirror can handle the impact. That’s where acrylic convex mirrors with heavy-duty plastic backing come in.

Acrylic convex mirror lenses are 15 times more impact resistant than glass. This means an acrylic lens can take bumps and bruises without breaking as easily as glass. On severe impact, acrylic can shatter, but it’s a good choice unless you expect vandalism when weighing the cost advantage of acrylic vs. polycarbonate.

By contrast, a polycarbonate convex mirror is 250 times more impact resistant than glass. It won’t shatter, but this tends to be overkill unless you are in a situation where, as stated before, vandalism may occur, or if it does break, shattering cannot happen (prisons, daycare, schools, etc.).

The plastic backing provides an extra layer of protection, making it much more durable than other safety mirrors on the market. We use a 1/8” thick high-density polyethylene (HDPE) backing. HDPE is an extremely durable material that is weather resistant and will not warp or bend in extreme weather conditions. This will protect your mirror against the elements for many years.

By contrast, galvanized steel convex mirrors are an option, but in our opinion, unless you have a specific requirement for steel, the price does not justify the added cost and weight of the mirror. Steel is also weather resistant, but extreme heat and cold can make the metal expand and contract, which, over time, may adversely affect the mirror and its attachment to the backing material.

Reason #2: Clearer visibility, safer workplace

One of the key advantages of convex mirrors is their wide viewing angle. And when you combine that with the clarity of acrylic, you get a safety mirror that provides unparalleled visibility.

Acrylic convex mirrors, and round convex mirrors for that matter, offer a 160-degree view. Meaning, when staring at the mirror, you should be most objects coming at you from the side. The DomeVex acrylic convex mirror, by contrast, is another alternative that offers a 180-degree viewing angle.

With an acrylic convex mirror, you’ll be able to see farther and clearer, giving you the peace of mind that comes with knowing you can always see what’s going on around you.

Reason #3: Easy installation, no-fuss maintenance

Some safety mirrors can be a pain to install and maintain. But installation is a breeze with acrylic convex mirrors and their lightweight design. And once it’s up, cleaning is as easy as wiping down the acrylic surface with a soft cloth. Even if it scratches, an acrylic polish is available at most hardware stores allowing you to bugg out the scratches (polycarbonate scratches won’t buff out).

In addition, the sturdy plastic backing ensures that you won’t have to replace your safety mirror as often, saving you time and money in the long run. The heavy-duty plastic back is much lighter than the galvanized steel options, so mounting the mirror is easier, and the chances of the mirror being blown down in heavy winds are less.

For most outdoor applications, we recommend the telescoping mounting option, and depending on the size, single, double, or triple mount options are available. For more details about convex mirror mounting, please visit our help article: Mounting a Convex Mirror.

Reason #4: Flexibility to fit any space

No two workplaces are the same, so choosing a safety mirror that can adapt to your unique needs is important. Acrylic convex mirrors come in various sizes and shapes, making it easy to find one that fits your space and offers the best coverage. Plus, their sleek design means they won’t detract from the overall aesthetic of your workplace.

Reason #5: Cost-effective solution

Lastly, acrylic convex mirrors with heavy-duty plastic backing are a cost-effective solution for improving workplace safety. Acrylic Convex Safety Mirrors are a simple and affordable option compared to other safety measures such as security cameras or high-tech sensors. And with their long-lasting durability, you won’t have to worry about replacing them as often as other safety tools.

So there you have it – the top 5 reasons why acrylic convex mirrors with heavy-duty plastic backing are the best choice for your office or warehouse. With their unbeatable durability, clearer visibility, easy installation, maintenance, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness, you can’t go wrong with this type of safety mirror. Don’t wait until an accident happens – invest in an acrylic convex mirror today and make your workplace a safer place for everyone.
