About Full Dome Mirrors
Select a full dome mirror to provide collision prevention, store theft deterrence, and general surveillance. Because of their comprehensive view, full dome mirrors are one of the most effective security mirrors to see around corners, down store aisles, and other blind spot areas. They may be implemented in large, open, high-ceiling regions to complement a loss prevention program. Full dome mirrors may be mounted flush against a wall or hung using the included pendant chain.
About Half Dome Mirrors
A half dome mirror is an excellent security mirror to view down aisles, hallway intersections, and entrances and as a safety mirror to see around corners. A half dome provides a 180-degree view. They are an excellent security mirror to discourage theft in retail stores and will prevent collisions when used as a hallway mirror for 3-way intersections. It may be paired with quarter dome mirrors as a safety mirror in warehouses and a security mirror in production areas.
- Blind spot convex mirror for hallways and aisles
- It may be wall or ceiling-mounted
- 180-degree mirror view
About Quarter Dome Mirrors
Quarter dome mirrors fit in the inside corner where two walls meet and are excellent corner security mirrors to see around blind spot areas, down aisles, and corridors. They are 90-degree mirrors most commonly used in warehouses and industrial facilities as corner security mirrors for two-way intersections to avoid forklift accidents. Offices and hospitals needing a corner safety mirror for hallways and patient rooms prefer a quarter dome mirror as it allows for safe navigation and enhanced visibility. The quarter dome mirror is also a jail mirror, so guards may see if a glance occupies a cell into the corner mirror.
- Blind spot mirror for corners and aisles for traffic safety and store security
- Mounts to the ceiling in the inside corner where two walls meet

Mounting of Dome Mirrors
Dome mirrors are available with and without backing. Dome mirrors without backing are mounted using the pre-drilled holes located on the outer flange of the mirror. Dome Mirrors with backings may be mounted with the d-rings attached to the backing. Full dome mirror may also be mounted this way as well, with the addition of a pendant mounting chain. Use Dome Mirrors To Reduce Industrial Accidents and Retail Theft
The external surface of a full dome mirror is representative of a half sphere. The lens is convex, providing a robustย 360ยฐ panoramic view. A full dome mirror is one of the most favored security mirrors because individuals can examine a precise area from every direction. They are commonly called ceiling dome mirrors, suspended from ceilings with chains or mounted flush to overhead surfaces. They may be utilized where convex safety & security mirrors cannot be used, particularly where no wall is present for mounting.ย
- It provides an aerial view.
- It can be used in conjunction with a round convex mirror.
- Fast and easy installation
The outer rim on the outside edge of a full dome is called the flange. This surface allows for simple and expedited mounting by pre-drilling holes around the flange and then using screws to fasten the dome to the ceiling. Hooking hanging chains through the pre-drilled holes for overhead suspension is also possible. The full dome mirrors with hardboard and steel backing options have three triangular clips attached to the reverse side of a full dome. These clips permit the hanging chains to be fastened to the brackets for overhead use. Backing materials will also keep dirt, dust, and other unwanted materials from collecting inside the bowl-shaped mirror. Nuisance pests, rodents, or birds tend to nest in full dome mirrors in some applications such as warehouses, loading docks, and other areas where doors often remain open. To prevent this from occurring, select the hardboard or steel backing options.ย
Full Dome Backing Options:
- Lens Only – Most economical and most commonly ordered full dome. No backing materials. Mounts with pre-drilled holes in the flange or hanging chains.
- Hardboard backing – Sturdy fiberboard. Increased rigidity. Hanging clips are attached to the back of the surface for mounting with hanging chains (not included) or wire.
- Galvanized Steel – Heavy duty non-porous surface for industrial or outdoor applications. Wire or chain brackets may be snapped in place with the installed clips.
Full Dome Lens Options
- Acrylic Lens – Durable enough to accept mild to moderate impacts without failure. It will not leave hazardous shards characteristic of glass when brokenโthe most popular and economical lens material.
- Offered in lens only (no backing), hardboard, and steel backing
- Available in 12″, 18″, 26″, 32″, 36″ & 48″ diameters
- Unbreakable Lens – Polycarbonate unbreakable lens. Has exceptional lens strength. The lens will not shatter, crack, or break even under punishing collisions. Ideal for institutional, behavioral, medical, governmental, military, and educational use.
- Lens only (no backing). Not available in other backing materials
- Available in 18″, 26″, 32″ & 36″ diameters
Full Dome Operative Range:
The distance at which images are reflected from a dome mirror is considered infinite. This means it will reflect everything within its scope; however, the articles farther away from the mirror will appear too small for recognition. Domes are most beneficial when employed in wide-open areas. Each size or diameter dome has a unique, effective viewing distance. Adverse conditions such as low light, poor vision, obstructed views, improper mounting, etc., will affect these calculations.
- 12″ Full Dome – clearly view objects up to 12′ away
- 18″ Full Dome – view objects up to 20′ away
- 26″ Full Dome – view objects up to 30′ away
- 32″ Full Dome – clearly view objects up to 36′ away
- 36″ Full Dome – clearly view objects up to 42′ away
- 48″ Full Dome – clearly view objects up to 55′ away
If your viewing distance exceeds the above-referenced guidelines or if you need to see images in greater detail, then a circular convex mirror is strongly suggested. Objects appear much smaller and in marginal detail because of the a) curvature of a dome lens and b) its compact convex design.ย
Full domes are regularly used in warehouses, hospitals, and other areas where 4-way intersections are commonplace. Because of their panoramic view, traffic from all four sides can avoid dicey collisions.ย 360ยฐ domes are particularly advantageous in the warehouse and industrial areas where forklift traffic is continual.ย
A panoramic full dome will provide overhead viewing of a convenience store, liquor store, retail store, grocery store aisles, and gondolas. Typically, one dome will supply coverage for two aisles when positioned as pictured in the diagram above. When multiple domes are used in conjunction, you can cover the vast area of the entire retail establishment. The cost of a dome mirror will typically pay for itself with the prevention of theft.ย

A half dome is fundamentally half of a full dome mirror. The lens has a convex design and offers a 180ยฐ view. A half-dome mirror is intended to be mounted flush against a flat surface. Often, they are referred to as hallway safety mirrors because they are positioned at 3-way intersections to avert collisions or detect the presence of people or objects in sensitive areas. They are often mounted at the top of a wall snug to the ceiling but can be hung in any position to give you the visibility needed to eliminate blind spots.

The outer rim on the outside edge of the half dome is referred to as the flange. This surface allows for simple and easy mounting by pre-drilling holes around the flange and then using screws to fasten the dome to the ceiling. Half domes with hardboard and steel backing options have metal clips attached to the mirror’s backside. The clips allow for alternative fastening with wire or chains. Backing materials will also allow for mounting with other materials such as double-sided tape, velcro, construction adhesive, etc.

Quarter Dome Mirrors Are 90ยฐ Corner Mounted Safety & Security Mirrors For Occupational, Medical and Retail Use.
A quarter dome mirror is a compact yet extremely practical security mirror. They use space efficiently and will work in applications where a half-dome mirrorย or full-dome mirror isn’t viable due to area or size limitations. The quarter dome’s lens is a convex mirror withย 90ยฐ Viewing and administers a “fish-eye” view of the entire expanse. Because of the curvature of the dome, the convex lens, and the compact design of the quarter dome mirror, reflected images are greatly minimized. If your implementation calls for a security mirror to make out objects or activities in a given area without great detail, then a quarter dome mirror will serve your needs well. However, if you need to see greater resolution, more detail, and more coverage of the area, then you may want to consider a different security mirror, such as a round convex mirror, as the reflection will provide greater scope and detailed images. Shop for a quarter dome mirror for blind corners in offices, hospitals, and jails for security and surveillance and in retail establishments for store theft prevention and general surveillance.ย ย
- Makes effective use of space
- 90ยฐ convex mirror with a compact design provides a “fish-eye” view of an entire area
- Most effective in situations to detect movement, activity, or objects rather than a detailed analysis of the subject area
Quarter dome mirrors are precisely engineered to fit the inside corner of two intersecting walls. They are commonly referred to as corner dome mirrors for this reason. They represent a triangle in shape. The corner dome is mounted using pre-drilled holes in the flange of the mirror. The flange is a thin acrylic edge just over a 1/4″ – 1/2″ that protrudes out along the top edge of the mirror. The 1/4 dome is often mounted directly to the ceiling using screws through the pre-drilled holes. It is also possible to thread string, wire, or rope through the pre-drilled holes in the flange and secure them to the ceiling. This will allow you to suspend the mirror to the inside corner of the wall rather than mount it directly to the ceiling. For drop ceiling installations, suspending the mirror using wire or string (such as a heavy gauge fishing line) or ordering a quarter dome mirror with hardboard backing is best. The hardboard backing will allow alternative mounting with double-sided tape, construction adhesive, or Velcro materials. Steel backing is recommended if the mirror is mounted outdoors or employed for heavy industrial use. This will allow the additional mounting surface to secure the dome to concrete, metal, or block. In food processing plants, labs, or other sensitive production facilities where porous surfaces are prohibited, steel b
