The indoor convex mirror with acrylic lens and hardboard backing is the go-to workhorse for indoor security mirrors. The acrylic lens is lighter in weight (when compared to glass) and offers a brighter reflection than glass and polycarbonate. Although it can scratch, there are polishes you can use to buff it out.
The hardboard backing is excellent for indoor use (not recommended for outdoor use). There are two mounting brackets; a z-bracket and a telescoping bracket. The primary benefit of the hardboard backing in a convex acrylic mirror is to provide the mounting brackets and to protect the mirror lens itself. However, the pressed hardboard backing does not do well in humid, wet weather. If you plan to mount the mirror in a location where humidity, moisture, or extreme temperatures are an issue, we recommend the outdoor convex mirror with heavy-duty plastic backing.
The mirror is available in sizes from 12 inches to 48 inches. As a rule of thumb, each inch in mirror size provides approximately 1 foot in viewing distance. To help with bracket options, smaller mirrors are available with a z-style mounting bracket. In comparison, oversized mirrors are only available in single or double-mounting bracket arms.
