Outdoor Rated Roundtangular Convex Mirror
$106.00 – $516.50
The roundtangular or rectangular security mirror is a popular choice for many users. The straight edge across the top makes it the best option when mounting near a ceiling.
This is a great parking garage mirror where ceilings tend to be lower and space is limited, or on loading docs. The heavty duty plastic back is great for virtually any outdoor environment.

A roundtangular convex mirror is shaped like a rectangle with curved ends, featuring a convex lens. A “roundtangular convex mirror” provides the benefits of a convex mirror. Still, the flat top and bottom allow it to fit nicely against lower ceilings and offer a broader view than a traditional, circular-shaped convex mirror.
How Large Should My Safety Mirror Be?
There’s an industry-wide, accepted standard that you can see every inch in mirror size at one foot of distance. Although this isn’t a perfect number, it provides an idea of the type of mirror you might need.
The mirror lens is acrylic and is available in the mirror sizes below. Acrylic is lightweight and seventeen times more impact-resistant than glass, offering a sharp, bright view. These are outdoor-rated because the backing is a heavy-duty plastic-based substance that will withstand humidity, rain, and dust that might damage an indoor-rated mirror with a hardboard back.’
The plastic backing is made from high-density polyethylene, perfect for harsh weather conditions. High heat, extreme cold, salt water, and snow won’t affect this rigid material with a thickness of 1/8” inch.
The mirror is also offered with a galvanized steel backing as well. The 20-gauge steel is though and rigid. However, it is more expensive and weightier than its heavy-duty plastic backing counterpart. We recommend the plastic back unless you have a specific need for the steel backing. It does a little better in colder and hotter conditions and performs well in wet conditions.
Rubber trim surrounds the mirror edge to protect the backing and backside of the lens from weather elements.
Mounting is either with a z-bracket for smaller mirrors or telescoping brackets. This link provides detailed information about the different mounting options. We recommend triple telescoping mounting brackets for large mirrors or mirrors where the wind is prevalent. Remember, the larger the mirror, the more brackets you should consider. If you plan to mount this mirror in highly windy locations, please use the triple telescoping mounting options below.
Many customers like to use this mirror type as a driveway mirror. Although this is a good choice, we would like to caution against their use in areas with a lot of wind. Because of the more extensive profile, wind can be an issue. If you choose a rectangular mirror, we advise purchasing a mirror with 3 x telescoping mirror mounting arms. Another option to consider is the new DomeVex mirror. The DomeVex Safety Mirror is an acrylic mirror that offers a 180-degree view versus the 160-degree provided by a traditional convex mirror. With this wide-angle view and lower profile than the rectangular-shaped mirror, the DomeVex mirror with heavy-duty plastic backing is an excellent choice.
